How to paint a white dog when white is not a color!

That's right, white is NOT a color. And white dogs are really white dogs. Look closely and you can find greens, yellows, magentas, violet, blue and so much more! I always start painting my portraits with a detailed pencil drawing = colored pencils always! That not only will give you a roadmap to follow, but they don't smudge like graphite! Give their eyes the expression of their soul - and begin with their eyes! It brings life to your canvas immediately! For white dogs, look closely. You will find the blues, the yellows, the magentas. In the highlights, the shadows - they are there!!!! I hope that you find this helpful in creating your pet portrait, and if you ever have questions, you may contact me @ pet portraits by corneille.
